The Resurgence of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) in Manila
The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has returned to Manila, igniting excitement among poker enthusiasts across the region. This year’s festival, unfolding over an enthralling 11 days since October 28, comes on the heels of the highly successful APT Taipei Poker Classic. With an impressive lineup of 109 events, including 101 trophy tournaments, this poker extravaganza promises to captivate players of all levels.
A Luxurious Venue with Huge Prize Pools
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Grand Ballroom at the City of Dreams Manila, this event is especially noteworthy for its phenomenal prize pool guarantees, which soar beyond ₱170 Million (approximately $3 Million). The lavish environment combined with the thrill of competition makes for an unforgettable experience, drawing both local and international players.
A Celebrated Return After Two Years
This represents the APT’s 42nd visit to the vibrant city of Manila, marking its first stop in what’s dubbed a “New Era” after a two-year hiatus due to global circumstances. The commencement of the festival has witnessed fierce competition and remarkable performances, with 17 players already clinching APT trophies within the first two days.
Cross-Event Success and the Influence of APPT
Interestingly, APT Manila commenced just a day following the conclusion of the APPT Manila Championship at the nearby Okada Manila. The fortuitous scheduling led several Indian players from the APPT to remain for the APT, underscoring the interconnectedness of these significant poker events in Manila, which has proven favorable for many.
Noteworthy Indian Players Shine Early
Among those showing early promise is Dilip Ajitkumar Menon, who achieved his first APT cash by finishing fourth in Event #1: ₱12K Philippines National Cup, securing ₱24,000 (approx. ₹34,674). Another standout, Siddharth Karia, a PokerStars India ambassador, followed up his impressive APPT run with a third-place finish in Event #9: ₱6K Hyper Turbo – NL Single Draw A-5, taking home ₱17,000 (~₹24,561). However, Karia had to depart early to celebrate Diwali, limiting his scores at this year’s APT.
