He highlighted their mandate to block illegal websites and to monitor permitted real-money online games effectively.
The Authority has successfully blocked 15 websites associated with illegal online gambling, particularly those operated by companies in jurisdictions where gambling is legal. They are also taking proactive measures against social media influencers and advertising campaigns that promote illegal gambling activities.
Comprehensive Surveys to Understand Gambling Behaviors
In a bid to gather more information about the online gambling habits of young individuals, the Tamil Nadu Online Gaming Authority is conducting a detailed survey involving 150,000 students and 17,500 teachers. Sarangan explained that this comprehensive examination aims to analyze gambling behavior among the youth and gather data that will inform evidence-based policy-making. “This survey will provide crucial data for evidence-based policy-making and is nearing completion,” he added.
